Corporate relocation to the Sacramento region

A local real estate and lending team for your relocating employees

The short answer: If your company is relocating an employee to the Sacramento region, Surroundings can be the local team: a home-finding agent and a lender under one roof. Share the timeline and your relocation policy, and we will plan the search around the employee and the policy.

What we do for a relocating employee

  • Neighborhood matching and a home search planned around how the household lives and where they work, with video tours before anyone travels.
  • One or two focused days in person, with the homes and streets lined up ahead of time.
  • A loan from our own broker, Maggie B. Hopkins, who lines up financing while the search is under way.
  • If the employee’s current home is in California and in the area we work, we can sell it and plan the sale around the purchase. If it is anywhere else in the country, we have a network of vetted agents and can connect them with one.
  • Help getting settled once the move is done.

What sets us apart: the loan is on the same team

Real estate and lending are under one roof here. Maggie B. Hopkins, our broker, is also a licensed mortgage broker (NMLS #349517), so the home search, the offer and the loan are planned by one team and not handed back and forth between two vendors.

  • Pre-approval before the in-person trip, so the employee knows their budget before they tour.
  • The loan is lined up while the search is under way, so the offer and the financing fit each other.
  • If the employee is selling a home, the sale and the new loan can be planned around each other, whether we sell it or one of our vetted agents does.
  • When a date moves, one team adjusts both the home and the loan.
  • We cannot promise an approval, a rate or a price. We can promise one team coordinating both sides, with plain language and no pressure.

What we need from you

  • The start date and the timeline the employee is working to.
  • Who is moving: the size of the household and any needs we should plan for.
  • What your relocation policy covers, and any process we should follow, including a relocation company’s.
  • Who we should keep updated, with the employee’s permission.

How we work with your policy

We follow your relocation policy and any process your relocation company requires. Tell us what it is, and we will tell you plainly whether and how we can work within it.

We do not pressure employees, and we do not promise a price or a result.

When you are moving an employee out of Sacramento

If your company is relocating someone away from the Sacramento area, we can list and sell the home they are leaving. We plan the preparation, the pricing and the timing around their start date and your relocation policy, and Maggie can look at how the sale and their next purchase fit together.

Why a local team

Two neighborhoods a few streets apart can feel very different and price very differently. We serve Sacramento, Elk Grove, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, El Dorado Hills and Davis, and we know the tradeoffs and not just the highlights.

Questions people ask

Can Surroundings work with our relocation management company?

Tell us your relocation company’s process and requirements, and we will tell you plainly whether and how we can work within them.

Who would our employee work with?

Rachel Dee Minyard plans the home search and Maggie B. Hopkins, our broker, lines up the loan. Either of us can sell the employee’s current home if it is in our area, and we have a network of vetted agents across the country for homes elsewhere.

Why does having lending under the same roof matter for a corporate relocation?

A relocation has tight dates, and the loan is often what slows a purchase down. When the agent and the mortgage broker are on one team, the search, the offer and the financing are coordinated, and a change in one is handled with the other in view. Approval and terms always depend on the lender’s review of the borrower.

Which areas do you cover?

Sacramento, Elk Grove, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, El Dorado Hills and Davis.

Can you sell the home of an employee we are moving out of Sacramento?

Yes. We can list and sell a Sacramento-area home, and we plan the preparation and timing around the employee’s start date and your relocation policy.

What if the employee’s home is not in your area?

We have a network of vetted agents across the country, and we can connect the employee with one, then keep the purchase in Sacramento coordinated with the sale.

How do we start?

Call our office or send us a note with the employee’s timeline and a summary of your relocation policy.
